Sushil Pyakurel has resigned as political advisor to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday.
"I have resigned," Pyakurel told Setopati after submitting the resignation letter. "I will issue a statement in a while to reveal the reasons for resignation."
Pyakurel had filed a writ petition against CPN leader Agni Sapkota who is set to be elected speaker. The SC hearing the petition had issued a mandamus ordering initiation of investigation and asking the court be informed about that.
Pyakurel was appointed on March 23, 2018 with the responsibility of providing advice and suggestions about political, social and human rights issues to the president.
