Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that amendment of the constitution will not be stopped in the name of stability and assured it will be amended if deemed necessary and justified in course of its implementation.
Launching a book titled 'A treatise on the Constitution of Nepal, 2015' the day before the Fifth Constitution Day at his official residence in Baluwatar on Friday, he mentioned that the Constitution of Nepal is a dynamic document with probably more fundamental rights as compared to other countries of the world.
"Some incompleteness may be seen tomorrow in course of implementation. Constitution amendment may be necessary to appropriately reform justice, equality and development to move the pace of changes forward in accordance to the need of time and necessities of the people. The Constitution will be amended in such situation. This is not an unchangeable and unamendable thing. This is not an unchangeable subject in the name of stability," he elaborated.
He added that agenda of constitution amendment should not be brought as an individual's interest, adding that the Constitution has the power to unite all over the issue of nationality. He also presented the example of unity of all while issuing the new political map of the country.
Madhes-based parties, that have all united to form Janata Samajwadi Party now, have been demanding amendment of the Constitution right from the time of its promulgation but PM Oli has been refusing to address their demands saying it will only be amended if amendment can be justitifed.
He opined that the Constitution, which has given priority to humanitarian security, civilization and development, has clearly reflected the goal of prosperity as well as humane and developed scientific socialism.
Urging to understand socialism as social justice, equality and participation of all in achievements, he clarified that such society would have openness, peace, security, rule of law and good governance.
