A 46-year-old man has died of COVID-19 in Birgunj on Wednesday.
Medical Superintendent at the Narayani Hospital Dr Madan Kumar Upadhyaya said the man breathed his last at Birgunj Health Care Hospital at six Wednesday morning. The man from Birgunj-15 was suffering from fever and cough.
He had tested positive on Monday and was immediately admitted at the hospital.
Death of an 18-year-old girl due to COVID-19 in Birgunj was reported earlier on Wednesday. The girl from Pokhariya, Parsa was referred to the National Medical College, Birgunj by Pokhariya Hospital Monday night. "Pokhariya Hospital had referred her to us in a critical condition after she suffered nausea. We had declared her dead on arrival," COVID-19 focal person at the hospital Dr Ashraf Hussain said.
The hospital had kept the body and sent her swab for test after the local administration said she was a suspected COVID-19 patient. The test report that arrived Tuesday night showed she was infected.
The COVID-19 death toll in Nepal has now reached 60.
